Numbers are verbal and/or pictorial/written symbols that signify specific ammounts of things. Being able to understand and use numbers is one of the basic cultural skills of humans. It is even present on a basic level in most cultures without writing system. While most other mammals and birds and are able to recognise ammounts, they can't really use symbolic representations of them. Like all really important things, numbers also play a significant role in many magical systems.

magical systems that consider numbers significant

See Number symbolism for details. In New Age esotericism and other newly invented systems this is also called Numerology.

Reduction of Digits

One of the most simple systems is to reduce numbers by adding their digits together. If the total is more than 10 then the process is repeated. For example:

666 ... 6 + 6 + 6 = 18 ... 1 + 8 = 9

See number reduction.

Factors

The factors of a number are all the Prime Numbers that need to be multiplied to give that number. If the only numbers it can be divided by (without remainder) are 1 and itself then it is a Prime Number.

36 = 3 x 3 x 2 x 2

37 is a Prime Number

Numbers on the Wiki

There is (currently) a page on this wiki for every number from 0 to 1000. If you need the "base" number pages to go higher, leave a note for Elseware.

If you mention a number on a page you should make it a link, unless inappropriate to do so.
