Numerology is the study of mystical relationships between numbers. This practice is usually associated with divination and has become popular amongst the New Age and neopagan movements and wide spread by so-called esoteric literature. Quite a great number of distinct techniques and calculation methods are commonly used, most of them rather unfounded or based on pseudoscientific frauds, which is one of the reasons that made it unpopular amongst serious occultists and mystics, who tend to avoid the modern simplistic name numerology and focus on similar practices like the kabalistic gematria and greek isopsephia.
