Carnelian or cornelian is a red variety of Chalcedony, a form of Quartz. Its red color is due to the presence of Iron impurities in the form of iron oxide or Hematite. It can vary from translucent to opaque. Carnelian is related to Amethyst and Citrine. It can vary from a flesh red to a clear red.
Carnelian is linked with sociability, warmth, creativity, assertiveness and reincarnation. It is associated with the Zodiac sign Cancer and the month July. Is believed to promote Courage. Helps asthma, digestion, kidneys, blood and urinary system. Strengthens vital energy and perseverance.
