The Greek God Kronus corresponds to the Roman Saturn.

Son of Uranus and Gaia and the youngest of the twelve Titans. Married to his sister Rhea. Father of Demeter, Hestia, Hera, Hades, Poseidon and Zeus.

Kronus castrated his father Uranus, then he and his wife Rhea took the throne. It was predicted that he would be overthrown by one of his own children. To prevent this he began to take them at birth and swallow them whole. Rhea saved Zeus from this fate, and Zeus came back to lead the revolt against his father and the other Titans, defeated and banished them.

In Athens on the 12th day of the month Hekatombaion a festival was held in honor of Kronus, which was known as the "Kronia". It was a celebration of the harvest. Cronus was depicted carrying a sickle used to gather the harvest, but this was also the weapon he used to castrate his father.
