Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, at the end of series five she dies in dawns place to save the world, and is reborn at the start of series six.
Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings, falls fighting the Balrog, to save the other members of the fellowship, and is reborn as Gandalf the White.
Aslan in the Narnia chronicles, is sacrificed by the witch in place of Edmund, the traitor, and is then reborn.
