Vayu, Lord of the Wind. Between the earth and the sky is the sphere of space, the dwelling place of subtle beings whose king is the lord of wind, Vayu. Wind is the breath of the gods. Some names of Vayu are the Wanderer, the one without whom one dies, the cleanser, pervader. Subtle, he abides in space, pervading the three worlds.

Vayu is often depicted as a strong and powerful man riding a deer. He holds a bow and arrows. All his attributes are white. He is the father of Hanuman and the king of celestial musicians. (description by Lila Durga)
