Add a tutorial section
So far we've got a lot of "what is" material, but who cares? Most of the time when people are looking for stuff on magic, what they want is "how do I?" - they want technique. I also wonder if SourceryForge wouldn't be a good place to start / host a project I've been working on off - and - on for a while - a Children's Primer on Magic. Something for the Harry Potter generation to get their little teeth into.
What do you think? Could we put some of that material on the Wiki and encourage development there? Would that be OK?
Elseware: Hell yeah. Although I suggest some responsibility, the danger with putting all the info out there is that people take the "I reckon I'm at least intermediate and can skip stages 1-4 and start at 5" attitude, which is the equivilent of doing martial arts without warming up your muscles. I've already started my Metaprogramming 101. Some useful stuff may be lifted from http://www.osogd.org/, but be careful to follow their license restrictions (which I believe are compatible with GFDL)
Hrm. Ok, care to outline an editorial policy on that? I think having some clear sense of what's kosher and what's not would really help the tutorial / how-to / practial section come together. I think it's worth defining fairly cleary so that people don't waste energy trying to put together material which is inappropriate from your POV as the host...
Elseware 11:30, 19 Nov 2004 (GMT): Good point. I suggest we create Project:Content Policy and decide it on SourceryForge_Talk:Content Policy. I do have the power of this site, as only I know all the passwords, but I don't intend to ever wield it in a heavy handed way. Unless I do, of course. But what I mean is that I'd rather things like policy were decided by the community, not just me. Legal stuff, like copyright, I should be the final say, as I have the final responsibility.

Mailing Lists
Possibly there are some mailing lists people could mention this site on without annoying people (I hate spam.) Perhaps when you refer to certain concepts in mails or webpages, linking to a relevant node. Elseware 04:56, 1 Sep 2004 (BST)

Domain Change
Perhaps sourceryforge is not a great name, as there's a mis-spelling in it. Maybe I should register sorceryforge.org too and redirect one or the other. -- Elseware

Name Change
How about changing our name to something more obvious which could also generate better search results, such as MysticWiki? Then the domain would be www.mysticwiki.org which is quite cute IMHO - Magos 17:49, 2 Sep 2004 (BST)

Website ads
Maybe have banners or buttons that people can put on their websites? Or does this seem too tacky?
This might be even more tacky but... maybe the SF admin/owner could give "awards" to webmasters who contribute the best articles. Kind of like those "best of the web" awards, but it recognizes the webmaster's contributions to SF and the "occult community."

Elseware 11:49, 14 Oct 2004 (BST): I don't like ad banners, and neither does google, who are the experts. I would prefer to advertise by being so darn useful that when someone mentions The Hanged Man or Chaos Magick or The Six of Cups in their blog, they link to the relevant page. Although if people want to create some banners, feel free to create a 'promo images' page and upload them to the wiki. The logo may be freely used, although I'm not a great artist so you may want to improve on it. That's good too!
Blogs
I think connecting with blogs is a good first step. The blogrolling or link swapping scenario is always a good way to get your resource passed around in a very grassroots manner.
SourceryForge newsletter
