Ley vein

The urban equivalent of ley lines are Ley Veins and Ley Arteries.

Have you ever walked somewhere where part of the route is a frequent journey and then have to turn off your normal route to go the place you are going that day. That twinge of resistance at leaving the "path" could be the begining of an urban leyline.

Where many peoples habitual paths are in parallel, urban ley lines form.

Unlike the straight ley lines, they are more like a system of arteries pumping people to work and the shops, and veins pumping them home again. These paths have power, but leaving them has power too, like breaking a little taboo. It's about finding the secret places.

Also try just stopping in places nobody ever stops. The concrete corridor between a multistory carpark and a shopping centre. Where cinema and resturant toilets have two doors with nothing but a couple of meters of corridor. Stop between those two doors to think. Have a moment alone and silent in the busy city.

Someone once said that "A to Z" stand for Authorized Zones, designed to hide the forbidden zones in the city. It may take years or search to learn by intuition to learn where they must be.
