Baking soda (bicarbonate of soda or sodium bicarbonate) is a common culinary ingredient for use as a leavening and decreasing acidity. It has the chemical formula NaHCO3, composed of a Na+ (sodium) ion and HCO3- (bicarbonate) ion. It has a slightly metallic, salty taste, though it shouldn't be consumed unless diluted.

Baking soda has similar properties to salt, particularly banishing and protection. While salt has a quality of repelling negative energy, baking soda has a quality of expelling - it works better for banishment than protection, and salt the other way around. Baking soda is also used in many home remedies for hygiene, having whitening and abrasion properties as a toothpaste ingredient and being a common component of homemade cleaners. It's also a strong deodorizer, as opposed to salt which prevents decay but cannot deodorize. It's also useful as a flame retardant for oil fires, which cannot be put out with water.[1]

Use baking soda for banishing, protection, and cleansing.
