The Vision Quest is a ritual has been practiced in some form or another by every culture on earth. The ritual of the vision quest is found in myths that go back thousands of years. It is perhaps one of the first rituals that shamans of old practiced to gain power and insight.

The main point of the vision quest is to gain insight into a problem by seperating yourself from your normal environment. Traditionally this was accomplished by the seeker going out into the wilderness without food and sometimes without water for anywhere from 3-5 days. Depending on the cultural tradition sometimes psychoactive plants were consumed. Most traditions had the common elements of seperation from society. The creation of sacred space through ritual. Extended periods of drumming, dancing and chanting. As well as avoiding sleep for the duration of the quest.

By utilizing such powerful techniques the seeker easily attains an altered state that will allow him to better perceive communications from the imaginal realm.
