The Veil between Worlds is the common name given to the barrier that divides realms. Much theorizing has occurred about the nature of this obstacle, but the main posit from New Age philosophy that anything that can be imagined can be summoned in some form indicates that the willingness to create magic appears to be central to manipulating The Veil. Without a membrane separating the world we imagine from the world we inhabit, our thoughts would in theory begin to manifest directly. The veil is often said to be pierced or thinned on various occasions, meaning that additional forms of magic can spill into our world. The most common instance of this is in any legend surrounding All Hallows' Eve.

In a more general setting, any magical construct that separates two things by way of illusion is referred to as a veil.
