This article is a work in progress to be updated with the claims made in The Magic of Shapeshifting along with the citations in-book for future fact checking and follow-up.

Indistinct citations:

  • 1-7 = individual anecdotes
  • 14, 15, 17 = broader statements about the prevalence of sightings

Plane cosmology:

  • Physical
  • Etheric - mimics the physical, few inhabitants
    • Senses work similarly, more colors (eg yellow-blue is not green)
  • Astral - some overlap with physical, mostly stray astral matter and nonlinear/nonphysical subplanes - many denizens
    • Hard to hear, see in all directions
  • Mental - beyond 3D conceptions
  • Adjacent plane (fairy realm)

Distinct claims and citations:

  • Prince Baianus was a prince who regularly shapeshifted in public (cit 8)
  • Constantinople was overrun by packs of (presumably anthropomorphic) werewolves in 1542 - King Süleyman II and his "Janizaries" hunted and killed at least 150 (cit 9)
  • The Lithuanian Neuri and many Irish clans are hereditary shifters (cit 10, 11)
  • "The Legend of the Leaping Wall" thousands of shifters (including nobles) would gather yearly at a castle between Lithuania, Livonia, and Courland (cit 12)
  • Reports of non-anthro wolves breaking into Russian cellars to steal wine (cit 13)
  • Dr. Gerald Kirkland saw two were-jackal in Zimbabwe 1933 (cit 16)

Stopping for now until the book comes in the mail
