Tawaret is an ancient Egyptian goddess of childbirth and mothering, is shown as a mixture of os several fierce creatures.

Her head and body depicts that of a hippo, her paws those of a lion,

her tail that of a crocodile and her breasts those of a human woman. 

She is shown with a large stomach to show that she is in the state of childbirth.

All of the animals that make up her body give her strength to fight any one who discriminates any one in the stage of motherhood or childbirth.

Appearance
