SQL DB Dumps

re: security of making password hashes publically available in the dumps: i'm informed by a wikipedia developer of the following: "the way to break a secure hash is by brute force. You guess a password, hash it, and see if it matches the target hash." "This operation takes on the order of 100us" so the size of the hash makes no difference.

true, It's on my todo list to undo but it's not that high a priority. It's not a hacking target due to being low traffic low numbers of users and not yet had a single banning. Using a password that is hard to guess is still worth doing in this day and age. Not a dictionary word or name from a book etc. But it's not "best practice" and I'll sort it at some point.
Ah, it was easy. Just "archive" "cur" and "image" dump now.

Server Statistics

Any idea how many seperate ip's have viewed this resource now? Just curious, since we get such a small number of updates a month - Self

Logs are private due to the way I'm hosting the site (currently on a work server). But it appears to have had about 900 distinct sites view it in December with an average of 555 hits/day. Although google appears to take up about half of that.

Page Move

Hi. I took the liberty to "move" Wikipedia:Development to Project:Development (and I also updated the Current events redirect). Is this ok? Just now I noticed you seem to use the "Wikipedia:" namespace for utility pages, and I wonder whether this is intented or you just had no time to move them to a "Project:" namespace. Hi. Don't do those by hand... Ask me and I can move them as a sysop, that means they get properly renamed and keep all their history. etc.
I've changed the namespaces to be called Project:xxx instead of Wikipedia:xxx - this means that the developement page is now stored in namespace 4, title=Development rather than namespace 0, title=Project:Development. Not a big deal, but handy to be able to mechanically seperate content from management.

ASQ

Excellent work In the future we shall be designing the ASQ Computing language with its AI Search Engine capacity. As well as keeping an eye on Nutch, BrainBoost and others we want to be able to integrate Wiki info into the language. Are projects such as this stored (on the whole) in XML or SQL or some other format?
