moksha is usually translated as 'freedom' or 'liberation' in a spiritual sense, and is one of the so-called 'four aims' of existence. Whilst the majority of Indian esoteric systems agree that moksha is the ultimate aim of spiritual life, there is a wide variety of interpretations as to what moksha means, and the methods by which it is attained.
