There are two Francis Bacons of some interest.
Of minor interest is the painter, who specialized in dark and often disturbing images. Information about him is available here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Bacon_(painter)
Of major interest is Sir Francis Bacon, who was the Imperator of the 17th century Rosicrucians in England.
