Self-deprogramming is a set of various techniques designed to unbind the mind from "traditional" pseudo-aristotlean logic thought and imprinted psychosocial dogmas. Deprogramming is the first step in deprogram - reprogram - condition scheme, together known as metaprogramming. Deprogramming is widely used by chaotes and any other paths that take interest in self-research and mind manipulation in order to eliminate dogmatic thinking that prevents effective magical operation. Deprogramming is necessary when a person who is raised in the traditional orthodoxal society seeks a Paradigm Shift.

The best explanation to the need of deprogramming that this author could find is an unwitting excerpt from Roy Halliday's [http://royhalliday.home.mindspring.com/MYBOOK.HTM#toc "Enforceable Rights: A Libertarian Theory of Justice"], reproduced here with permission:

As children we learn by imitating the people around us. We become accustomed to our parents' ways, our society's traditions, and the values of our particular circle of friends. By the time we are mature enough to possibly develop a rational moral philosophy, we have formed habits of thinking and feeling that make it hard for us to be objective.

It is difficult for many of us to question all authorities and to rely on our own judgment. Not only do we have to overcome the external pressures from our friends, family, and neighbors, we have to reevaluate our own thought patterns and emotions. Ironically, our natural sociability makes conformists of most of us, and our conformity limits our ability to think objectively about social issues such as war and injustice.

To deprogram oneself, one must be aware of the parts of the core beliefs he or she possesses that need to be removed. While every mind is capable of such applications, not everyone is properly equipped and trained to perform such operations themselves.

Self-deprogramming is a complicated area that requires one's awareness of his conscious and subconscious. Regressive memory recall as well as other specialty psychology techniques are often used by practicing operators to get to the root of their fears, sexual attractions, behaviour patterns and any other imprints that they unconsciously bear and wish to get rid of.

One example of self-deprogramming and self-awareness methodology is Zen
