"Guru" is a title. It can mean two different things. Ideally these things go together.

  • A spiritual teacher or leader.
  • A being who has become completely enlightened, and is now god incarnate - all traces of personality, individual self interest, and limited consciousness stripped away, leaving manifest, immanent divinity.

Type 2 gurus are rarer than hen's teeth.
