Eclecticism

The philosophical method of choosing the best ideas from a diverse set of existing philosophical systems and combining them together with personal views in order to create a new philosophical system is called Eclecticism.

Eclectic philosophers appeared in Ancient Greece and my favourite philosopher is Epicurus. I consider the Eclectic system to be the most superior of all philosophical methods available.

Eclecticism means personal freedom. You are free to believe whatever you want and you are free to create your own philosophy and teach it to the world.

Eclecticism in mystical orders

AMORC, the original Rosicrucian Order, follows an Eclectic approach to Mysticism, but always in respect and accordance with its Ancient Egyptian mystical roots. AMORC always looks for new discoveries and updated explanations and is very tolerant towards all philosophies. AMORC will never ask you to accept all of its philosophy, but it will give you the tools so that you can become a philosopher and choose what suits you for yourself.

Other esoteric orders are much less tolerant and overemphasise tradition. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, but I usually personally prefer freedom-friendly orders.

However, no matter whether a mystical order accepts Eclecticism or not, respect for the tradition is always a good thing. I think that tradition and freedom can be mixed together and bring interesting and beneficial results.

Eclecticism and Christianity

Christianity is perhaps not a good place to discuss Eclectic ideas. Christian groups usually focus on tradition and respect for their leaders and many times don't like personal investigations or personal philosophies.

Eclecticism versus Syncreticism

Eclecticism is not the same with Syncreticism. I need to read a bit more before commenting on the differences, but I think that Syncreticism is when you just mix different ideas together without creating a new consistent philosophy. The ideal of Eclecticism, on the other hand, is to create a new philosophical system which will be consistend and coherent, by combining personal ideas with other ideas from many different existing systems.

About New Age and Eclecticism

New Age is mostly syncretic because the New Age-ish views are usually not very consistent and coherent. New Agers didn't create a new philosophical system, but they just mixed different ideas together to create a "salad" of philosophies and personal views. I could say that New Age is mostly a culture rather than a philosophy.

In New Age-ish conservations you are rarely required to justify your ideas and the emphasis is on belief rather than on knowledge. There is no single "philosophical method" used by New Age groups. New Agers are often confused and cannot justify their ideas in a philosophically consistent or scientific way. But there are always exceptions.

Epiphenomena

An epiphenomenon is a phenomenon created by the subconscious and is not real, but it may have elements of a perceived reality. This is a common occurance in meditation, but it should not happen in people who have practiced meditation for decades.

Remote Aura Viewing

Remote Aura Viewing (RAV) can happen, but I cannot say whether an occurence of RAV is just a fake epiphenomenon or a real experience of the subtle worlds.

RAV can be practiced in meditation. The more deep you go the less interference you have from your upper regions of the brain.

I use the word "target" to describe the person that I am trying to see his or her aura.

In my opinion it makes no difference whether the target is close to me or away from me, or whether the target is alive or transitioned (Transitioned is the word I use for deceased/dead people). I have never tested RAV with non-human targets and I have never found any person who did that, but I don't think it should be difficult.

I have confirmed that many characteristics of my experiences are shared by other people who also practice RAV. An example is the "darkness" and the "soft colour" characteristics, explained below.

Darkness

I have noticed that in every personal experience of RAV the reception is full of darkness, like a dark room. I can only see the target, who is standing usually in front of me, looking at me. Sometimes reception of his or her emotions is possible but I cannot say for sure whether I get his or her real emotions or whether this is an epiphenomenon (fake reception, interference from the brain).

Other people have said to me that they also experience the "darkness" characteristic in their RAV.

Soft colours

I have noticed that in most personal experiences of RAV, the reception of colours is very strange. The target is coloured in what I call "soft colours". The aura can be either perceived in soft tones or in bright colours, so this characteristic may not be true for the aura but only for the target.

Perhaps I could name it "dilluted colours". It's like an old piece of clothing after many washes that it has lost its bright colour.

Black spots

I have noticed during RAV that some people have black spots in their auras, or at least this is what I see.

I think that the presence of black spots in an aura is a very bad thing.

Black spots does not seem to suck energy from the target's aura.

Leeches

Leeches are small entities attached to a target's aura. These entities suck energy from the aura.

I think that people who have lots of worries tend to collect many leeches. Having leeches in your aura is surely a very bad thing.

I think that visualisation can be used to try to remove some of the leeches.

Non-Visual Aura Perception

Non-Visual Aura Perception (NVAP) is an interesting phenomenon where a person can perceive the aura of another person without seeing the actual aura and its colours.

I am not sure how this phenomenon works, but it works for me and some friends.

In some occassions, NVAP was useful to me in determining whether a particular person was good or bad.

To try NVAP, you stay calm and concentrate yourself on the target person. "Open" yourself in receptions and try to filter out interference from the brain.

As always, there is no sure way to understand whether a NVAP perception is real or just an epiphenomenon (fake experience).

Energy perceptions in dreams

It is possible to get preceptions of energy and aura in dreams.

Of course there is no way to scientifically know whether the perceived energy/aura is "real" or just an illussion.

Visualisation

Visualisation is a mystical technique. Usually it is practiced during deep meditation. Some people (especially Zen and Buddhists don't like it. The use of this technique is mostly known in Tibetan Buddhism, Hindu systems like Tantra, and some Western systems like Rosicrucianism.

It is a very useful technique and can be used in many ways. It is possible to use visualisation for improving the health of a person kilometers away.

To perform visualisation, go in deep meditation and start building images in front of your mind's eye.

There are two ways to use these images:

1. Feed your personal energy to the images you create. Sometimes this may be exhaustive, so you may switch back to normal non-energised images for a while before continuing the actual process. You can also perform visualisational magick by feeding energy to your images.
2. Use the images you create in order to "call" higher subtle energies.

Female and Male Energies

Female and Male energies exist only in our plane. In the higher subtle planes, the two energies become one, so there is no distinction.

Some people believe that female and male energies is an inherent characteristic of the whole universe, including the higher planes. I don't think so.

Egregore

Egregore is a very interest concept in mysticism. Egregore is the name we give to the collective energy of a group of entities. I think these energies are found in the middle planes of the universe (the astral).

An egregore can server as a tank full of energy for the benefit of all members of an organisation which knows how to access and connect with that specific egregore.

Different independent groups of mystics/magicians who can come in contact with the same egregore may claim to be "the original Order of the [insert group name here]". This is an idea I borrowed from the website of Mr. Lemos.

Jivatman

I define Jivatman as: "the individual soul, distinct from the personal ego but also distinct from the universal soul, which has some form of non-egoistical personality and is, more or less, spiritually pure".

So, Jivatman is a part of yourself, the "real you", something like your "higher soul". Jivatman is the highest part of your soul which has personality, so it is distinct from atman (brahman). It is not your ego because it has no egoism.

Jivatman is in connection with the higher planes and tries to make your lower soul and your ego more consciouss of the spiritual world.

In RAV-like meditation Jivatman has always very bright and abstract ethereal colours. It is very difficult to describe what colours can be seen when approaching a Jivatman. They are not like the colours found on Earth, so I describe them as "abstract ethereal colours" because they cannot be seen on the physical plane.

Karma and money

Someone said that rich people may be rich because they have good karma from previous lives. I am not sure about this.

Aleister Crowley

Aleister Crowley is not a person I would trust and I perceived him as a negative/bad entity. However, I think he had some knowledge of magick, but I think we can find other more trusted sources instead of his books.

Who created our bodies?

I remember I once read a in a book that we are the creators of our bodies. This is an interesting idea. If I remember correctly, the book was written by Max Heindel (a person who was claiming that he was a Rosicrucian but actually he had no relation to the true R+C).

I would rewrite it instead as: "a person who wrote that Rosicrucian is a title to be used only by the Elder Brothers, or Unknown Superiors according to Masons, of the invisible/spiritual Rosicrucian Order." He didn't make such claim, as stated above; but, are u so sure he had no relation to the true Order? Do u have it yourself to confirm it to the world? Truly, we make no clear idea yet of the process used to guide us during our journey, and those who truly know it won't speak. So I have been told... ;) --GalaazV 22:24, 21 Aug 2005 (BST)

Some people say our bodies are created by God, others argue that our bodies were created by "natural processes" through evolution.

I don't know whether it is true and I haven't accepted this idea yet in my personal philosophy, but to say that we create our own bodies while we are still in the middle planes (astral) is a very beautiful and interesting thought.

If this idea is correct, why do people with disabilities create their bodies in that way? Why they didn't create a perfect body?

I have some theories (just came up after a brainstorming session):

• We (the human souls) don't know how to create perfect bodies. We pass through a series of reincarnations until we are masters of the craft of "body creation". Some souls do terrible mistakes during "body creation" so they are born with disabilities. In the next lives they hopefully learn how to not do mistakes.
• Some souls know how to build good bodies but they don't want to do that because they want to have the experience of living in a body with disabilities.
• Some people have collected bad karma and their souls are delibarately born in a body with disabilities in order to clear up / balance their karma.
• something I haven't thought of (yet)

Take everything with a grain of salt

We should take everything with a grain of salt. And when I say everything I mean EVERYTHING. Perhaps nothing is real, but it is fun to create realities.

• Don't take metaphysics/mysticism/magick too seriously.
• Don't take science/philosophy or the mundane world too seriously.
• Don't take authority/society/religion too seriously.
• Don't take your own personal ideas too seriously.
• Don't push things. Live happily and in harmony with the tao.

In short, life (both the mundane and the spiritual) is a game. Learn to play well and avoid thinking that something is serious just because people say so.

You are the creator of your reality.

The "Take everything with a grain of salt" idea incorporates elements of the philosophy of Epicurus.

Vowels and impressions on the mind's screen

Practicing meditative vowels may generate imagery impressions on the mind's screen. Here are my results/notes so far:
