OFF

OFF is a French indie horror RPG created by Mortis Ghost. It has you playing as The Batter, a self-righteous character aiming to "purify" the five zones in The Nothingness by exorcising demons and killing the guardians of the zones.

Locations

The Nothingness

Also referred to as the "World Map", this is a space through which all the zones in the game can be accessed.

Zone 0

The smallest of the zones, its guardian is The Judge. It contains no Elsen and its only inhabitants are the Judge, Sugar, and Zacherie.

Zone 1

A widely varied zone which produces most of the four elements for the other zones. Its guardian is Dedan.

Zone 2

Zone 2 is a more residential zone for Elsen. Its guardian is Japhet. The areas in it are:

• Library
• Shopping Center
• Amusement Park
• Residential Area

Zone 3

Zone 3 is a large sugar factory run by Enoch, its guardian.

The Room

The zone which houses Hugo. It has six chapters, starting at chapter 5 and going in descending order until chapter 0.

Elements

Each element is introduced as the "first of the four elements", with the exception of Sugar which is the secret fifth element.

Smoke

Smoke is what the residents of the zones breathe. It is mined, shipped in bottles, and sold for consumption. It is necessary to breathe to live.

As the first of four elements... It's an important element. Because without smoke, people would have nothing to breathe.

Metal

Metal is grown in cattle and purified in order to make tools. Metal of poor quality is discarded, making soil.

As the first of the four elements... It's an important element. Because without metal, people would have nothing to walk on. They would sink and drown.

Plastic

Plastic exists as either a solid (used as a building material for products) or a liquid (which makes up all the lakes and rivers in the game).

As the first of the four elements... It's an important element. Because without plastic, the world would have no boundaries. People would walk and walk without ever stopping.

Meat

Meat exists solely as a liquid, and appears to be the only edible material in the zones (excluding Sugar). Purportedly, it is created by "a sole big insect, whose mandibles spit meat".

As the first of the four elements... It's an important element. Because without meat, people would have nothing to eat. They would die of starvation, one after another.

Sugar

Sugar is a fifth, secret element which is created by burning corpses in ovens. It's extremely addictive, with addicts becoming violent if cut off. It's a "man-made" element created by Enoch as a reward for his Elsen workers.
