Nirriti, Goddess of Misery/Misfortune Nirriti is a sinister goddess representing misery, disease and death. Her images are painted on cloth and show red attributes. Embodiment of all sins, she appeared at the time of the churning of the ocean before the goddess of fortune, Lakshmi. Her abode is the sacred fig tree. To her realm belong dice, women, sleep, poverty, disease and all the forms of trouble. Her sons are Death, Fear and Terror. She is the divinity of disease and misery. The fearful poverty that is Nirriti�.
