Alder is a sacred tree of Celtic Astrology 18 March to 14 April with a masculine energy. Druids associated this tree with the fox. The deity Bran considers this tree to be sacred.

Known as the wood of witches or Battle Witch wood. It draws off the element of fire, but also water and earth. Alder is a fast growing tree with a short life cycle. This fiery property lends courageousness and passion in your work. Alder is best used to summon and control the four winds, banishing and controlling elements. Excellent for resurrection spells.[1]

Alder wands are used for witchcraft magic rituals concerning with charisma, journeys, self confidence, bravery, supervision skills, and spiritual growth. Also used in shielding the astral self from unwanted intrusion from other realms.[2]

Associated with divination, music, poetry, wind magic, weather magic, teaching, and decision making. Also used in rituals of death & dying to provide protection for the deceased.[3]
